A WordCamp is a low-cost or no-cost event, usually held on a weekend, where WordPress enthusiasts gather to learn how to get the most out of WordPress, and more importantly meet and get to know one another.
In 2011, WordCamp San Francisco (WCSF) was one of 52 WordCamps held around the world. WordCamps are held from Austin, Texas to Auckland, New Zealand. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and everyone has at least one thing in common: a love of WordPress — so you know you’re among friends.
At WordCamp San Francisco the finale is the State of the Word address, where Matt Mullenweg, co-founding developer of WordPress, talks about upcoming WordPress developments and answers questions from the audience.
