WordCamps are low-cost or no-cost events, usually held on a weekend, where WordPress enthusiasts gather to learn to get the most out of WordPress. Since they’re community-organized and run, they offer something for all WordPress fans, from blogging newbies to professional developers. Most importantly, they provide a space for WordPress users to get to know one another.
WordCamp San Francisco (WCSF to save keystrokes) was the first-ever WordCamp, organized by WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg in 2006. Since then, it’s grown to become the official annual WordPress conference with over 30 speakers and 1000+ attendees converging on the City by the Bay. Along with sessions by WordPress superstars from around the world, it features The State of the Word address, where Matt talks about upcoming WordPress developments and answers questions from the audience.
In 2012, WCSF was one of 207 WordCamps held around the world from Austin, Texas to Auckland, New Zealand. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and everyone has at least one thing in common: we all love WordPress!
