Many WordCamps have a code of conduct, but our project as a whole does not. This leads to grey areas and ultimately discourages people from becoming involved in our community. A code of conduct will help eliminate these grey areas and will make our generally warm and accepting community one that is openly proud of being warm and accepting.

Many meetups have codes of conduct as well, but it would be nice to see some community guidelines on IRC channels, etc, and to have a centralized way of handling violations.

How to handle breaches would be nice to cover too, particularly attendee-to-attendee breaches in a way that doesn’t make the victim feel like they are making a fuss.

Love this idea! Something similar was started in the past (called Community Expectations).

We did make some progress that may be a good starting point or start over.

This is already slated to a community team meetup project, so if there’s a conversation on the summit day, interested parties may want to amble over to the community team on Tuesday to pitch in.
