Diversity in Meetup and WordCamp Speakers

Morgan Kay (@wpalchemist) and I have been running workshops and events in our local cities to help people who identify as women overcome some of their personal barriers to speaking at WordPress meetups and at WordCamps.

We’ve both had tremendous success. In my own personal success, this year at WordCamp Vancouver: Developer Edition we had 50% women speakers. Even being a Developer camp!

We’d like to extend this conversation with the community to not just women but encouraging diversity in meetup and WordCamp speakers overall.

This is so specific to event organizers that it would probably be better placed on our team meetup agenda instead of the summit day.
