I’ll have to back out as I’ll be attending the speaker dinner that night, but feel free to enjoy dinner without me 🙂
Aaron HockleyParticipantI’m interested in joining but can’t be of help with location suggestions.

Aaron HockleyParticipantYeah, I’m well aware of those issues (and the Envato dustup caused Envato to finally enable their authors to offer truly GPL licenses… which seems like a good thing).

Aaron HockleyParticipantCould you specify what restriction you refer to? If you mean the restriction that speakers/sponsors need to follow the WordPress license, I’m not sure I see that as a diversity issue at all. Seems like asking that folks speaking/sponsored at events being organized under the umbrella of the WordPress Foundation to be in line with the WordPress license shouldn’t be burdensome…
If you mean another restriction, please clarify 🙂
Aaron HockleyParticipant+1 – good topic, and I could see it growing a bit (either on purpose or accidentally) into the “What should a WordCamp be” question as noted in many of the comments on that post. We’re seeing more non-WordCamp events spring up that seem to be appeasing some of the folks who didn’t like the guidelines of a WordCamp.
I’m happy to share some experiences of how we found non-traditional WordCamp speakers for WordCamp Portland in years past (both local and non-local… and we covered zero expenses for any of them).
Aaron HockleyParticipantA big +1 (would that be a +3) to this topic. It’s a balancing act in that we want to provide new information to repeat WordCamp attendees, yet each event also features a nontrivial number of first-time folks who might benefit from seeing the same/similar material as has been presented in past years.
