David WolfpawParticipant
I’m down to learn how to improve our local group.
David WolfpawParticipantI agree with this topic, and with Tina on how it can affect groups locally.
David WolfpawParticipantWordPress seems to be not the most liked portion of the PHP community, even though WordPress is much larger. I was representing WordPress at an open source conference last month, and got my fair share of animosity from the “better” platforms in attendance.
We were approached by the Drupal group to get some integration with WordCamp Orlando this year. I’d love to field ideas on how to integrate as a community, while still keeping it WP.

David WolfpawParticipantI can attest, Jen has been spending a lot of time on helping get people over, and I’m pumped to talk about this!
David WolfpawParticipantI am very interested in discussing this, since I know that there are already tools that exist for authors in forums that I’m simply not acquainted with.
David WolfpawParticipantI would be interested in attending a session about this topic, as we’ve made considerations as to how we could do that too.
David WolfpawParticipantI agree that it’s something to talk about. Even here in the US, a few people travel to multiple events in one region, and maintaining connections can be harder when you’re not exactly local, but localish.
David WolfpawParticipantI agree that this can be useful, but to an extent. There will be people who will suggest favoritism (and there would probably be some), and it could entrench people and prohibit future experimentation.
I would instead suggest that we flip this around a bit to find ways to demote older plugins than promote specific ones. For instance making the two year old notice more prominent, making a one year old notice, or making it more clear as to what an old plugin means.
David WolfpawParticipantYup 🙂
