paying for transcribers is very expensive. We created a system to allow volunteers to contribute by transcribing but there has not been enough momentum. We really need a person or two willing to wrangle volunteers (we get a lot but don’t have a person to send them to). This might be better discussed at the community team meetup, which includes wptv folks.

This is very specific to the WC ticketing plugin, so let’s just talk about this during the team meetup rather than blocking an hour of people from all the contrib teams. I’ll see if I can get the Automattic lawyer to come over to talk with us since he’s local.

Let’s just make this part of the community team meetup since it’s so specific to us.

+1 based on expanding to traditionally marginalized groups. I would not include youth in that, given the youth-focused nature of to industry and the fact that youth is he one area we actually participate in mentorship programs. There will be several people working on youth-focused outreach programs at the meetup, but I think it is separate from diversity outreach.

This sounds better suited to the community team meetup since it only affects organizers.

This is more appropriate to the community team meetup, we can add it to the agenda.

This is so specific to event organizers that it would probably be better placed on our team meetup agenda instead of the summit day.

As far as I know the only people who’ve had to bow out for failure to respect the license were white English-speaking dudes, not exactly a diversity issue. If there is a real diversity issue, please specify. If it’s more of a desire to remove the GPL requirement, I’m afraid that is unlikely to change for official events, since without the GPL we wouldn’t exist and respecting the license is a bare minimum.

This is already slated to a community team meetup project, so if there’s a conversation on the summit day, interested parties may want to amble over to the community team on Tuesday to pitch in.

I think this is so specific to WCs that it would make more sense to add this to our community team meetup agenda.

I think getting off the million year old standalone bbPress and onto the current version would be higher priority than writing new antispam software.

I will say that this discussion should happen only if it includes Matt.

Mario: I’d suggest renaming this as Sister Projects, since you are talking about things that are not actually in the WP project, but related, which is different from wp contribution vectors.

+1. I know @nacin has good ties with the PHP community in DC/the US, and with jQuery, but we could be doing more as a project for sure.
